Led by Dan Dorsey Roshi, the zazenkai is a half-day of intensive practice that includes periods of sitting and walking meditation, individual meetings with the teacher (dokusan), and teisho (dharma talk). The day begins with tea at 6:25 am, and culminates following the dharma talk at 3:30 pm. (Please note that at this particular zazenkai, we will not be having the customary sutra/chanting service.)
Participants have the option of being in-person at the Tucson zendo or connecting from home via Zoom livestream. Breakfast and lunch are included for in-person participants.
Pre-registration by 2/19/25 is required; click here for the sign up form: Zazenkai Registration
To help meet sangha expenses, we request a contribution of $35 for ZDS members/$45 for non-members. Payment may be made at the zendo, by mail, via your payment app of choice, or using the on-line donation button located on the ZDS website homepage. Please know, however, that everyone is welcome to participate regardless of ability to pay. If a scholarship is needed, please let us know.
After registering, you will receive an email in the week prior containing information about retreat protocols and the schedule.
