Becoming a Sangha Member
The life of Zen Desert Sangha involves three interconnected spheres -- People, Practice, and Place -- supported by the generosity of our members and friends. It is contributions, both in terms of money and service, that sustain us in having a physical space and a community of like-minded people to engage with in zen practice in Tucson.
If you share the fundamental commitments of ZDS and value having this resource in our community, we invite you to make a commitment to participate in helping to maintain the sangha. We offer three levels of commitment and encourage you to choose the highest level that is appropriate.
Each level has a suggested financial donation -- but please don't feel deterred if this isn't possible for you. There are many ways to contribute; choose the means that is right for you.
Member
Assume $300 ($25/month) or more annual financial commitment.
Receive announcements and special mailings.
May borrow books, magazines, videos, audio tapes and other media from the ZDS library.
May vote at sangha meetings.
May become a board member in the organization.
Actively participate in committees, work projects, samu days, board meetings and/or event organization for at least 8 hours quarterly.
Discounts for ZDS events.
Associate
Assume $150 ($12.50/month) or more annual financial commitment.
Receive announcements and special mailings.
May borrow books, magazines, videos, and other media from the ZDS library.
Encouraged to participate in sangha activities including discussions at business meeting.
May assume member status after participating in the sangha for six months and upon examining their level of commitment.
Discounts for ZDS events.
Friend
Make minimum contribution of $40 per year.
Receive announcements and special mailings.
Friends are always welcome and are encouraged to participate in all sangha activities.
ZDS is a non-profit religious organization. All donations are tax deductible.
